Root canal

Does a root canal hurt?

Fear of pain is the most common worry, and it is entirely understandable. Yet today a root canal performed under good local anaesthetic is hardly more uncomfortable than an ordinary filling. The tooth and gum are fully numbed before we begin, so you barely feel the treatment itself.

Often the real pain is in fact the toothache you had before the appointment, caused by the inflamed nerve. That nerve is removed during the treatment, which takes away the source of the pain. Most patients are relieved at how calmly the session goes.

Afterwards the tooth may stay a little tender when biting for a few days, which is normal and part of healing. A pain reliever you tolerate, such as paracetamol, is usually enough. This tenderness fades on its own.

Anxious about going to the dentist? Do say so before the appointment. At the clinic in Nador we take our time, explain each step and work gently. For any questions before your visit, call 0536 33 22 30 or message on WhatsApp +212 677 677 707.
