Does whitening damage tooth enamel?
Controlled whitening does not scratch or wear down enamel. The active agent lightens the pigments inside the tooth, without removing material the way an abrasive would. This assumes a suitable product, a controlled dose and healthy teeth, which is exactly what the prior examination checks.
Problems mainly arise outside this framework: overdosed or misused kits, applications that are too frequent without advice, or whitening done while there is decay, cracks or weakened gums. In those situations, the risk is not enamel wear but increased sensitivity and gum irritation. It is the lack of supervision, more than whitening itself, that causes trouble.
At Dr. Imad Al Morabit's practice in Nador, whitening is only offered after checking the condition of the teeth and gums, and the protocol is adapted to your case to stay safe. The consultation and quote are free; an initial opinion is possible via photos on WhatsApp (+212 677 677 707).
